Dealing with Aggressive Colleagues and Staff Training: Is it needed?

Another question was asked to a member of the Quell team recently, when we were carrying out training in respect of Lone Working.

The question realistically was about the subject of internal conflict between members of staff, or even managers to other members of staff at different levels. Our approach is to not look at this as a major problem within organisations, but it is clearly evident that some form of stress, frustrations or dislikes happen between members of staff. The normal route is to bring in a mediation company to defuse or mend broken relationships; however our approach is to prevent the situation in the first place.

We often speak to companies about this subject and does it exist, but the general perception is that is never happens (yet again this phrase has risen again) however when asked about has mediation taken place they instantly say yes in certain situations. So in our opinion why wait until something gets out of hand or costs more to bring in outside agencies to mend something that could have been deterred from being broken?
